Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State said northern Nigeria will support President Tinubu in 2027. He made the comment at a two‑day conference in Kaduna hosted by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation .

He explained that voters in the north gave Tinubu over 60 percent support in 2023, based on the promises he made to that region . That backing is now paying off, he said.

Yahaya as chair of the Northern States Governors Forum highlighted real projects underway. These include the Abuja‑Kaduna‑Kano expressway and the Kano‑Katsina‑Maradi rail line . He listed other works: Kaduna refinery rehab and Abuja‑Kano gas pipeline . Kolmani oilfield drills are ongoing too, he said .

These deliverables boost energy access and industrial growth in northern states. They show effort and results, according to him .

Yahaya noted emerging projects like the Sokoto‑Badagry superhighway and new health and farm investments across the north . He said these plans reflect real policy focus on welfare and progress.

On security, he said northern Nigeria saw strong gains. Over 300 bandit kingpins and terror commanders were removed through coordinated military and intelligence efforts . He said that action eased the siege on local communities.

Yahaya mentioned formation of the Livestock Development Ministry. He said that move helps modernise pastoral sectors and peace in farming zones . He also highlighted youth support, education grants, and efforts tackling out‑of‑school children crises in partnership with states and traditional leaders .

On economy, he faced hardship head‑on. He said subsidy removal and exchange rate changes hurt, but are vital for long‑term growth . He insisted pain will yield economic stability in future.

He said northern support in 2027 is not blind loyalty. It is a reward for performance and delivery that locals can see with their eyes . Governors and citizens alike must hold leaders to account yet support good work.

Not all voices agree. Some opposition groups in the north plan to back different candidates in 2027. ADC‑linked coalitions have criticised APC dominance. But Yahaya said credible foes are rare among northern governors .

Kaduna Governor Uba Sani echoed this view. He said no governor will likely oppose Tinubu’s re‑election. He argued no president has backed states like Tinubu has done .

That praise came at the same Kaduna forum. Sani said federal‑state coordination has never been this strong in Nigeria’s history .

Yahaya stressed that democracy works when citizens engage. The forum theme was “Assessing Electoral Promises: Fostering Government‑Citizen Engagement for National Unity”. He urged ongoing dialogue between leaders and people .

He invoked unity across Nigeria. He cited the late Sir Ahmadu Bello’s vision of North‑South cooperation. That alliance still matters for peace and growth today .

Looking ahead to 2027, He said the north will reward performance. If the Tinubu government keeps delivering, it should get continued support from northern voters .

He urged northern stakeholders—governors, traditional rulers, youth groups, business leaders and civil society—to build local momentum. Infrastructure, education and healthcare must get extra push even from local sources .

He also sounded a caution. He noted progress but warned against complacency. Citizens must keep holding leaders to promises and demand more action.

This statement comes at a sensitive time. Opposition forces such as ADC are energising northern voters ahead of 2027. Their messages warn against one‑party dominance .

But Governor Yahaya’s message is clear. Where tangible progress is seen, trust follows. Northern voters backed Tinubu in 2023. They see signs of improvement now. That makes 2027 backing likely.

The stakes are high. Nigeria’s unity and future depend on how well leaders deliver. Governors like Yahaya say they will back performance over promises. Real delivery earns real support.
