Tinubu Grants Jobs, ₦250K Awards & Scholarships to 200 NYSC Honourees

NYSC honourees celebrate new jobs and awards
President Bola Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu ordered that 200 top corpers join the federal civil service right away. He added that each would get ₦250,000 in cash. He also approved postgraduate scholarships at any Nigerian university for each of them.

Those honoured served between 2020 and 2023. They earned praise for discipline, teamwork, and integrity. Tinubu instructed the head of civil service and federal service commission to begin the hiring process at once.

In a gesture of inclusion, Tinubu also ordered jobs for 10 former corps members who sustained injuries during service. He called them heroes worthy of recognition.

The event took place at the President’s NYSC Honours Award ceremony in Abuja. The minister of state for labour and employment spoke on behalf of the president.

The NYSC director-general explained that each honouree went through a multi-level screening to earn their award. They stood out in all four NYSC key programmes.

The awards reflect a wider youth empowerment plan. The government has expanded youth education, tech, and skill programmes across Nigeria. They also recently raised the NYSC allowance from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000 to match current cost of living.

More than 6,300 medical staff served remote areas in 2025. Over 4 million Nigerians received free health services through NYSC. The annual entrepreneurship scheme trained over 250,000 corps members.

The move places top young Nigerians firmly into public service roles. It ties service to job placement and academic progress.

Each honouree now holds a postgraduate scholarship offer. They may study for a higher degree at any national university of their choice.

Many see this as more than reward. It is a chance to keep talent in national service. It may also inspire others in service to aim higher.

Ten injured corps members now have a path to stable jobs. Their sacrifice earned them immediate support and recognition.

The ceremony included the best male and female honourees from multiple states. Their records in community service and civic work set them apart.

Minister of Youth Development praised Tinubu’s focus on youth. She urged young Nigerians to stay hopeful and united in building their country.

The NYSC director-general reflected on those who paid the ultimate price during service. Four honourees were remembered for their sacrifice.

The scheme celebrates national unity and shared identity. It trains graduates from across regions to serve outside their home states.

This latest step ties public service, higher education, and youth growth under one goal. It invites discussion on service, reward, and national duty.

The gesture does not end here. It raises expectations for similar support across broader youth cohorts.

One may ask what comes next. Will these steps move the needle on youth unemployment? Will they cement NYSC as a route to service and skill building?

If Nigeria will succeed, it may be by keeping service linked to opportunity. Tinubu’s move shows how one ceremony can ripple across careers, morale, and national unity.
