A top Nigerian gossip blog, Gistlover, claims that activist VeryDarkMan took cash to clear Sam Larry and Naira Marley’s names. They say he flew from Lagos to Abuja for the talk. Then he shared a video of him eating and chilling with the two men after the chat. Fans call this “damage control gone wrong.”
The row follows heavy claims in Mohbad’s case. Mohbad, a fast-rising singer, died on September 12, 2023. Before he died, he said Sam Larry and Naira Marley’s team hurt him. He even filed a police report in June 2023 accusing promoter Sam Larry of leading armed men against him .
In late June 2025, VeryDarkMan aired an exclusive with Sam Larry. Sam Larry said he never lashed out at Mohbad and that a viral nine-second clip was overblown . He claimed he merely “tapped” Mohbad at the beach and asked for money he said Mohbad owed him.
After the talk, savvy fans dug up clips. They spotted scars on Mohbad’s arms in old videos. The clips show wounds they say match past claims of assault by Sam Larry and associates . Critics say VeryDarkMan’s shift feels like siding with the accused.
Some netizens point to a leaked audio in which Zlatan Ibile warns Sam Larry to speak the truth within 48 hours. Zlatan’s clip spread fast on social media. It urged honesty, not cover-ups. Yet VeryDarkMan called the deadline “a stunt.”
Still, reliable outlets stress Mohbad’s case remains open. Police say they hold no final report. Mohbad’s family and fans demand a clear probe. They say no amount of spin can drown out their call for justice.
