Alright folks. Strapped in? Good. Because things are getting spicy in the Nigerian House of Representatives. If you've been following the Bobrisky saga, where a popular social media influencer became an involuntary guest of the state, you'll know it's been quite a ride. And just when we thought things were dying down, the House of Reps went and invited some serious players to their office for a not so friendly chit chat.
In a letter dated September 27, 2024, the House of Representatives' Committee didn't hold back. They called on the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyode, and the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Haliru Nababa, to show up with all officers involved in the alleged bribery scandal surrounding Bobrisky. And they didn’t stop there. They even invited the 'Queen' himself, Bobrisky, along with internet sensation VeryDarkMan, who dropped the bombshell that sparked this whole controversy. It’s like calling everyone to the principal’s office!
For those who missed the tea, let’s backtrack a bit. Earlier this year, Bobrisky was handed a six-month prison sentence for abusing the naira. But, surprise, surprise, rumors started flying that he was living it up in a VIP facility instead of doing time like everyone else. Then, VeryDarkMan, who seems to have an endless supply of 'receipts,' released an audio clip claiming Bobrisky had coughed up a cool N15 million to the EFCC to get the initial money laundering charges dropped. Talk about a plot twist!
Now, with this latest development, the House of Reps wants answers. They’re looking into whether the EFCC and Nigerian Correctional Service bent the rules and rolled out the red carpet for Bobrisky. It’s a serious allegation, and the folks in charge are being asked to come clean or face the heat.
Whether you’re ooh-so-in-love with Bobrisky or you came for the tea and drama, one thing is undeniable. This case isn’t near over and both sides must put on their (finger)suits we guess. Right court? Right.
