Kogi Road Accident:12 Dead, FRSC Report on Nigeria Road Crash

A serious road crash in Kogi State has resulted in multiple deaths and injuries, according to an official report from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The accident claimed the lives of twelve people. Two other individuals were injured in the collision. Officials did not immediately provide the exact location within the state or the specific vehicles involved.

The FRSC stated its personnel were deployed to manage the scene. They assisted with traffic control and provided initial aid to the wounded. The injured victims were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. An investigation to determine the cause of the crash is now underway.

This incident occurs amid broader national concerns about road safety. Earlier this year, the FRSC reported a 2.2 percent increase in road accidents across Nigeria during the first six months of 2025. The corps also recorded a 14.4 percent rise in traffic offenses during that same period.

In response to ongoing challenges, the FRSC has highlighted its efforts to improve safety. The agency is deploying more technology and increasing patrols. Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed recently emphasized that more arrests reflect greater enforcement, not weaker standards. He also announced a new digital system for driver's licenses designed to streamline the process.

The FRSC's core mission is to create safer roads and reduce fatalities. Officials continue to urge all motorists to obey traffic laws and drive with caution.
