Lagos Stunting Nigeria's Growth? Activist VeryDarkMan Blames Economic Centralization.

Activist argues Lagos monopolizes Nigeria's economic opportunities.

Na wa o! Another day, another controversy from social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, aka VeryDarkMan 😂. This time, he’s targeting Lagos state, claiming it’s the reason Nigeria isn’t progressing. Abeg, is he right or just causing wahala?

In a viral video, VDM boldly accused Lagos of hoarding economic opportunities. He argued that too much focus on Lagos stalls national growth. Major companies, seaports, and even Nollywood are centered there. Meanwhile, other states like Calabar or Port Harcourt struggle. He compared it to "one rich family member" slowing everyone down .

VDM suggested Lagos should be its own country! He called for more seaports and 13 new international airports in other states. Economic decentralization, he says, would boost development nationwide. But wait, is this realistic or just talk?

Reactions from netizens were mixed. Some agreed, saying monopoly hurts Nigeria. Others laughed it off, comparing Lagos to New York. One user joked, "If other ports work, Lagos is dead!" 😂 .

As a blogger, I get VDM’s point. Lagos does dominate economically. But is blaming one state the solution? Maybe the real issue is poor policies nationwide. Plus, VDM has faced arrests for his activism—so he’s no stranger to trouble .

Omoh did you know Lagos contributes over 30% of Nigeria’s GDP? Yet, less than 1% of its land area! That’s imbalance, abeg.

Wetin you think? Should Nigeria decentralize or focus on fixing Lagos? Drop your gist in the comments.
