Na wa o! The Department of State Services (DSS) has entered another wahala with activist and Sahara Reporters publisher Omoyele Sowore. This time, they’re demanding he delete a tweet where he called President Bola Tinubu a “criminal” for claiming corruption ended in Nigeria . But Sowore, ever the fearless critic, fired back with a documented statement calling the DSS demand “unlawful, unconstitutional, and dictatorial” .

For those who don’t know, Sowore isn’t new to government harassment. Since 2019, he’s faced arrests, detentions, and even torture for speaking truth to power . Yet, each time, he bounces back stronger. Now, the DSS claims his tweet could “incite violence” and threaten national security . But wait o, since when did criticizing a president become terrorism? 🤔

Sowore’s lawyers have written to X (formerly Twitter), urging them to ignore the DSS request. They argue that only a court—not an security agency can lawfully restrict free speech . Even Amnesty International and SERAP are backing Sowore, calling the DSS move an “abuse of power” .

Sowore is a U.S. permanent resident , so this battle isn’t just local it’s gone international. Will X side with Nigeria’s government or uphold free speech? And why is the DSS playing Tinubu’s bodyguard instead of focusing on real security issues?

As Sowore rightly said, “The Nigerian people are determined to reclaim their country.” Are you with him or with the DSS? Drop your comments!

Fun Fact: Sowore’s Sahara Reporters once exposed a $120 million IMF loan scandal in 1989 . This man no dey carry last o ✌️!
