So, what went down? Apparently, the soldier in question (we’ll keep names on the down-low for now) thought it was cool to flex his training outside the barracks. It wasn’t a drill, it wasn’t a warning shot, it was straight up deadly. Poor guy didn’t even see it coming, probably thinking the biggest danger he face that day was getting stuck in Benue’s traffic. But instead, he met a trained killer literally!
I mean, who lets soldiers just roam around with that kind of power? Shouldn’t they be, I don’t know, "guarding something"? Instead, they’re out here playing cops and robbers. What’s worse is the irony people who are trained to "serve and protect" somehow turn the streets into a danger zone. And guess who’s paying the price? Innocent civilians, of course.
But it looks like justice might actually happen this time. The police didn’t waste time arresting this trigger happy soldier. Now, the big question is what’s next? Will we actually see accountability, or is this another case of "whoops, my bad"? Hopefully, justice is served, and this poor young man’s family gets the closure they deserve.
It one thing to wear the uniform, but it another to respect it. Let's hope we don’t have to start panicking about soldiers walking the streets like they are in a battlefield!
