Sowore, who made more than a few waves in the last few years especially as the presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC) was immediately picked up by DSS officials upon touching down at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. The time? Around 9:43 WAT. And no, this wasn’t a spur of the moment decision. The DSS had already laid the groundwork, reportedly telling immigration and airport authorities to intercept him well in advance.
Why the arrest? Well, it seems the powers that be aren’t too thrilled about Sowore’s involvement in the recent 10 day #EndBadGovernance protests. The newly minted DSS boss, Adeola Ajayi, wasn’t having it and allegedly gave the green light to arrest him as soon as he returned to the country.
The timing is interesting. Sowore had just hopped off a flight from Washington Dulles International Airport, where he left at around 6:14 EDT. And boom, within hours of landing, he was in custody. Now the big question is what happens next? Sowore is no stranger to clashes with the government, but every time they think they got him down, he comes back stronger.
