The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has taken significant steps, to improve its operational efficiency by appointing six senior officers to new managerial positions. In a move aimed at boosting leadership and service delivery, the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, announced the appointments, which are meant to drive critical areas like revenue generation, smuggling suppression, and trade facilitation.

Among the key appointments are B.M. Jibo, now Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) of Finance Administration and Technical Services, and O.A. Alajogun, who takes on the role of Acting DCG for Enforcement, Inspection, and Investigation. These officers are expected to lead efforts in bolstering revenue while ensuring the smooth flow of trade within Nigeria's borders.

Other notable appointments include I.G. Umar, who will serve as Acting Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) at Customs Headquarters, and O.A. Salefu, the new ACG in charge of Training and Doctrine Command. These changes come following the retirement of several senior officers, creating a new dynamic within the leadership of the service.

Adeniyi emphasized the need for the newly appointed officers to redouble their efforts, noting that the continued success of the Customs Service depends on their ability to deliver on core mandates. He expressed confidence in their capabilities, urging them to focus on delivering strategic leadership that will enhance the agency's performance.

The reshuffle is seen as a proactive measure to ensure the agency remains on track to meet its goals, particularly in safeguarding national revenue and combating smuggling activities.
