SDP EXTENDS INVITATION TO SENATOR ALI NDUME FOLLOWING REMOVAL AS SENATE CHIEF WHIP

Senator Ali Ndume

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has formally invited Senator Ali Ndume, recently removed as Majority Chief Whip of the Senate, to join its ranks. National Chairman Alhaji Shehu Gabam extended the invitation at a press conference in Abuja, condemning Ndume's removal as an act of intolerance by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ndume's criticism of government policies and programs was deemed legitimate by the SDP, demonstrating his commitment to the welfare of Nigerians. Gabam emphasized the importance of criticism in a healthy democracy and urged the APC and government to address the concerns raised by Ndume instead of silencing dissenting voices.

The SDP's invitation to Ndume aligns with its commitment to social justice, good governance, and democratic principles. Gabam acknowledged Ndume's extensive experience in parliament and encouraged the APC and Presidency to embrace criticism and foster a more inclusive democracy.

This development follows a pattern of sanctions against senators who speak out against the government, raising concerns about the state of democracy in Nigeria. The SDP's stance highlights the need for diverse perspectives and constructive criticism in the political landscape."
