NAFDAC Alert: Recalled Indomie Noodles Pose Allergy Risk

Recalled pack of Indomie Special Vegetable Flavour instant noodles with a best-before date warning.

Nigeria's food safety agency has warned the public about a recalled batch of Indomie instant noodles. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) issued the alert on December 18, 2025. It concerns the brand's Vegetable Flavour product.

The agency acted after French food safety authority Rappel Conso ordered a recall. The recall is due to undeclared allergens, milk and eggs, found in the product. These ingredients are not listed on the label but are present.

This poses a serious health risk to people with allergies or intolerances. For them, consuming the noodles could trigger severe reactions. Reactions can include skin rashes and breathing problems.

The affected product has a best-before date of February 6, 2026. All lots of the Vegetable Flavour are involved. The specific country of origin for this batch was not stated in the alert.

NAFDAC says the official risk of this product entering Nigeria is low. This is due to a federal government ban on importing noodles. However, the agency warns that illegal entry is still possible.

The product could be bought online or brought in by travelers. NAFDAC has started vigilance actions to guard against this. All its zonal directors have been told to monitor markets. They are to find and remove the product if it appears.

The agency advises distributors and retailers to be very cautious. They must avoid selling this specific recalled product. Consumers are told not to eat the noodles if they have them.

People should throw the product away immediately. Anyone who sees the recalled noodles for sale should report it. They can contact the nearest NAFDAC office or call 0800-162-3322. Side effects from consumption can be reported on the NAFDAC website.
