Activist Martins Vincent Otse, aka VeryDarkMan, was arrested at a GTBank branch in Abuja on May 2, 2025. He was there to query unauthorized deductions from his mother’s account. His lawyer says the bank’s exit door was locked for over five minutes, letting EFCC officers step in and make the arrest .

The EFCC says it acted on multiple petitions from private individuals. It says it owes those petitioners a duty to protect their interests. The agency plans to arraign him once he meets bail conditions .

On May 5, he was grilled at EFCC headquarters in Abuja for hours. Agents probed his income sources, how he creates content, and his claims against public figures .

One key focus was a defamation suit by gospel singer Mercy Chinwo. She accuses him of wrongly claiming she diverted $345,000 from her ex‑manager. She wants N1 billion in damages, plus a public apology .

His mother went missing after the arrest, according to the Take It Back Movement. They demand answers and his unconditional release .

After five days in custody, he was released on administrative bail on May 7, 2025 .

Since release, VeryDarkMan said he’ll work with the EFCC under strict terms. He warned against any false “money laundering” label on his image .

He claims his phone holds evidence on his income, assets, and claims against Mercy Chinwo, former manager EeZeeTee, singer E‑Money, and the Okoya children. Those claims remain unverified .

The arrest has sparked debate online. Many call for calm, due process, and quick closure of the probe. Share your views respectfully below.
