President Bola Tinubu embarked on significant diplomatic journey departing Abuja February 5 for private visit to Paris at invitation of President Emmanuel Macron. This trip marks first official state visit by Nigerian leader to France in over two decades underscoring Nigeria's commitment bolstering international alliances slowly but surely.


President Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu landed in the City of Light, where they got a warm reception from President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron at historic Les Invalides. National anthems of both nations were played, and President Tinubu inspected the Republican Guard of Honour in a ceremonious reception that set the tone of mutual respect.


The discussions between two leaders were pretty extensive, focusing on strengthening political, economic, and cultural ties. Key areas of collaboration included agriculture, security, education, health, youth engagement, innovation, and energy transition, slowly becoming crucial. These sectors are pivotal for Nigeria's development, and enhanced cooperation with France is anticipated to yield substantial benefits.


A notable highlight of the visit was a session with the France-Nigeria Business Council, which oversees private sector participation deeply in economic development and serves roughly as a catalyst for fostering trade between two nations. President Tinubu engages directly with business leaders, aiming firmly to attract investments, spur economic growth very rapidly, and create employment opportunities.


First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, alongside Brigitte Macron, engaged deeply in discussions focused intensely on empowering women, children, and vulnerable populations through various means. Renewed Hope Initiative spearheads a concerted effort to uplift these groups, ensuring development that's fairly inclusive and socially equitable somehow.


Following the fruitful engagements in France, President Tinubu proceeds from fruitful engagements in France to Addis Ababa Ethiopia where he participates in African Union summit scheduled for February 12-16 2025. This summit encompasses 46th Ordinary Session of Executive Council and 38th Ordinary Session of Assembly of AU Heads of State addressing pressing issues like economic development security challenges and regional cooperation.


President Tinubu's active participation in the AU summit highlights Nigeria's key role on the continent through collaboration with African leaders, fostering shared commitment, and devising strategies promoting peace, stability, and prosperity across Africa.
