April 18th, it starts: EFCC labels Yahaya Bello as “wanted.” Sounds serious, right? Fast forward May, June, July and guess what? They’re still making the same announcements. “He’ll be arraigned next month!” Then, “Oops, something came up!” Rinse and repeat. Meanwhile, Verydarkman has been calling Olikoyede out, saying it straight: “You’re a clown, Olanik!” And you know what? He's got a point. Because while Yahaya’s case stalls indefinitely, the EFCC’s cracking down on small-time suspects students and petty fraudsters. They’re locking them up left, right, and center, but Yahaya? Apparently, he’s got “immunity by incompetence.”
The icing on the cake? Olikoyede promised he’d resign if he couldn’t bring Yahaya to justice. Yet here he is, still glued to his seat, shrugging his shoulders like nothing’s wrong. It’s hard to take this agency seriously when its leader is making empty promises and avoiding accountability. Verydarkman said it best: "The only reason these people get away with it is because the youth of this country are too distracted to hold them accountable.” Sad truth right there.
At this point, it’s hard not to feel like the EFCC’s a circus, with Olikoyede as the ringleader and Yahaya Bello as the special guest who never shows up. Verydarkman has every reason to call out this sham, because if there’s one thing this saga has made clear, it’s that EFCC’s priorities are more than a little skewed. They’re swift to arrest the “small fish,” but for the real big players? It’s just delay after delay.
Maybe one day we’ll all wake up and demand more. For now, as Verydarkman says, “it’s just a matter of time before the youth of Nigeria have had enough.” Until then, the show goes on. 🎩✨
