VeryDarkMan's Appeal for Compassion in Nigeria

In a recent video that’s stirring conversations across Nigeria, activist VeryDarkMan brought to light the harsh bail conditions imposed on young protesters—minors who, as he said, are being held on bail set at a staggering 10 million Naira each. For these kids, that’s a number most of us can’t even fathom. VeryDarkMan shared that each child must have two sureties, one of whom has to be a civil servant, complete with official documentation like an employment letter, recent promotion record, and a valid ID.

Now, VeryDarkMan didn’t hold back, pointing out the tough conditions these young Nigerians come from. Many are from Kano, an area struggling with educational resources and high insecurity. These are kids who’ve grown up with limited schooling and few opportunities. They were following the adults in these protests, unaware of the gravity of the situation. And yet, here we are, watching them endure these extreme measures.

When he visited the court, VeryDarkMan saw these young children, some as young as 10, sitting on the floor in the dock, visibly lost and confused. It hit him hard, and his message is simple: President Bola, release these children to their families. No child deserves to go through such harsh treatment. They need understanding, guidance, and support—not detention.

This powerful plea from VeryDarkMan calls us to rethink how we treat our young people. As a country, let’s push for fairness and make sure our leaders hear us loud and clear. 💔✊🏾
