Abuja Evictions: Verydarkman Calls Out FCT Minister Wike for Inhumane Actions

Thousands of people in Abuja face homelessness after being forcibly evicted, with gunshots fired, leaving women and children vulnerable.

Verydarkman, the Nigerian activist, hit the nail on the head with his recent post. It’s pure wickedness, and honestly, inhumane what’s happening in Abuja right now. Over 10,000 people have been forced out of their settlements—gunshots fired, women and children left without shelter, and men, fathers, brothers, left bleeding. In a nation where even the wealthy face challenges well this situation feels like a direct insult, to everyone involved.

Picture this scenario. No shelter, above them to shield from the elements and no comfortable beds to rest on; simply exposed to the chilly outdoors with no prospects. It’s beyond unfair. And what really stings is that these people are already battling hardship—people who can’t even afford to feed their families. Now, they’ve been tossed aside like they don't matter. This is not how we should treat our own.

Verydarkman’s call to action is something we all need to pay attention to. This is not just about demolishing buildings; this is about the destruction of lives. If the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, doesn’t stop this, we’re only creating more problems. People are already desperate, and desperation breeds violence. This could very well lead to more insecurity, and we don’t want that.

The solution is simple: stop the demolitions. Relocate these people, compensate them, and give them somewhere to live. The elites can keep their land, but these citizens—who have nowhere to go—deserve better than being left out in the cold.

Verydarkman is right: we can’t let this slide. The government needs to act now before this spirals even further.
