Oluyede’s military journey started with his commissioning as a second lieutenant in 1992, yet he’s been part of the army since 1987 as a member of the prestigious 39th Regular Course. He’s worn many hats, holding positions that took him from a Platoon Commander to the Commander of the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps. Each role sharpened his tactical instincts and operational resilience—traits he’ll need as he navigates this new position.
Oluyede has gained experience from Jaji’s Infantry School to challenging areas throughout his career journey. He has actively participated in peacekeeping missions such, as the one in Liberia under the Economic Community of West African States Monitoring Group (ECOMOG). Additionally he has contributed significantly to maintaining peace in Nigeria North East region during Operation HADIN KAI and played roles in Bakassi under Operation HARMONY IV. His dedication to Nigeria and peace shines through his experiences, across regions.
In recognition of his service, Oluyede has been honored with the Corps Medal of Honour, Grand Service Star, Field Command Medal, and Chief of Army Staff Commendation Award, among other accolades. These aren’t just medals; they’re symbols of the grit and valor that define his career. Each decoration stands as a testament to his adaptability, courage, and dedication—qualities that are now essential as he steps into this national leadership role.
It’s an interesting time for the army as well. The security landscape in Nigeria remains complex, with challenges from insurgency to local conflicts. Off the battlefield, Oluyede is a family man with a supportive wife and three children.
