Nigeria’s military is facing what can only be described as an embarrassing situation. Here’s the scoop: Bello Turji, the infamous terrorist leader, along with his crew, has managed to seize an armored personnel carrier (yep, a whole armored bunker) filled with enough ammunition to make anyone nervous. And this is not some other ordinary raid or some small scale confrontation – this man is actually informing our soldiers of his intentions to eliminate them. Well, you are not dreaming or seeing double, there is some truth in what you just read.
Now, this is more than just a bold act it's a straight up challenge to Nigeria’s security apparatus. Think about it's an uneducated militant leader taunting the country’s armed forces, flaunting his new arsenal. It’s a power move, and not the kind we can ignore.
For President Bola Tinubu and his service chiefs, this is a big blow to their ego, and at the same time a self-inflicted one. This isn’t some small-time bandit, no this is an all-star sports car bandit. Turji has recalled for us time and again now that he is not in it for the fame, he is as deadly as they come and for the first time, he is loading for bear.
This has raised so many issues regarding the capacity of Nigeria security forces and what other actions are being prepared to prevent such embarrassments. The question that one can ask is, what is the solution to this growing problem? But most importantly how will the Nigerian military react?
Now this is an embarrassment for President Bola Tinubu and his Service Chiefs.
